J&J cafe

Before we went to Borneo Convention Centre Kuching for some formal events, we stopped by J&J cafe around Tabuan area. Where? Here it is.

View J&J cafe in a larger map
And, well, like usual, we were hungry & we went ordering for food right away.
The usual drill for the girl, Lemon juice.
The boy takes on Teh C Peng.

After some iced drinks as a refreshing start, we drilled into our meals.

The boy's Nasi Lemak Special.
The girl's Nasi Briyani Curry Ayam.
Of course, after a heavy meal like that, we usually just sit there & chill.
And, not to forget a snack or two while relaxing. (:
So, that's a plate of huge french fries for the two of us.
Life is always good.

Hot & roll

Last week, both of us went to The Spring.
& decided to try out this newly opened for not-so-long.
Hot & Roll.
Love the signboard of it, sorta like a conversation bubble.
Just a small, nice, comfortable shop slot.
But it looks super clean, must be graded "A".
The light-up-very-bright menu.
For easy reference. We like.
We ordered up a lot, & not-to-miss-out this must-order Chicken & Cheese Crispy Wrap.
It's just a poster, a huge one.
& this is what we got. Kinda disappointed at first but, till the end, where all the mayonnaise, cheese & goodness are, we are glad we did ordered this.
It is all juicy & oozing with yummyness!
Next up is Banana Chocolate Paratha Wrap.
Just looking at it again makes us wanna fly back & eat again.
Must(!) eat when served. When the chocolate is hot, which absorbs the banana's fragrant!
Last is Chicken Sausage Chapatti Wrap.
Do not let the look fool you, this is one awesome wrap filled with awesomebomb sauce, that makes you go bomb.
The sauce is sort of a blend of mayonnaise with thousand island and sweet sour?
If you get what we meant, this is superblyawesome!
Last but not least, our mess(!).
At Hot & roll, you will have to dirty your hands in eating 'em.
But it's all worth it in the end, it's finger lickin' good, like how KFC puts it.

Next up is Delizze, stay tuned!
Have an awesome week ahead & do look forward for another post on the Gathering Of The Tribes!
Ciao.

Smile!

A simple random post on our everyday life, well, in campus.

There is literally limited choice of meals we can have in campus.
From nasi campur to ordering meals.

Like here:
Nasi Putih Ayam Butter Nestum.
Love how they include a star shaped rice, instead of some old boring round shape ones.
Nasi campur.
Take whatever you like on their trays of ready-cooked-food-dishes.
& some snack of the day!
There are fries, hotdogs, nuggets to choose from.

& who said there is limited choice, hah!

Steak actually bought something for Pasta all the way from home & it just make Pasta's day!
These smiley buttons are just, cute!
& man, do they have the power to make one smile!

Not to miss out, we actually, finally went to eat our RM1 pizza.
The hotlink pizza ticket? Was it?
But we continued on to order & end up, a lil over-ordered.
Blame the small table, it is fully packed.
Still, the meal is awesome & the RM1 pizza turned out to be just nice.
For the wallet & the appetite.

This is one random post, remember to smile!
Ciao.

Sightseeing

& walking around with the girl.
We had a lunch date at some random cafe we spotted.
So, in we go & ordered & eat & chat & waste time!
Spotted lemon peng & 3-masam.
Spotted pork rice, marinated egg?, kompian + minced meat.

After lunch, we went to the mall to waste our time.
& this is one random picture.
Spotted Salad Cracker. (just salad on cream cracker, feeling tertipu yet?)

& we waited for evening, we went to the beach!
& spotted someone para-gliding?
It's awesome how one could just glide through the skies & feel free!

We shall end this post with an awesome picture of the pretty pretty pretty skies + beach.
Have a great year ahead, y'all!
Knowing that the sun will always rise again, take courage!

Take cares, ciao!

Study week, uh, we meant, finals.

Finals are here.
Officially here since the first paper we had was 2pm this afternoon.
So, we did the usual routine.
Heading off to the campus' library with tons of junk food, er, what we really meant was, motivational food.
Without these food, we had utterly no energy and motivation to study.

Like for example; the picture below.
One of the types of necessity foods we brought along.
All these food apparently take away the 50% of the space of one of our bags.
That is quite a wide variety we had here, right?

Let us do a brief introduction for 'em then.
The must: Apple & Blackcurrent juice.
Otherwise to be refilled with Ribena.
Someone once quoted that "A Ribena A Day Keeps The Doctor Away". Wait, that was quoted by Pasta.
So, yeah, practically, Pasta needs to drink Ribena everyday.
The cravings: Chocolate & its minions.
Chocolates are known to make people happy and a little hype?
So they are good and needed for motivating purposes.
And to keep us awake.
The last: Dry junk food.
Not to miss out, Steak's favourite Lee Fah Mee, nostalgic!
Pasta's Firecrackers, CNY-ish?

That sums up the types of junk food, wait, it's motivational food we had up in our stash and sleeves.
To make sure we will never ever starve.

Oh, before we forget, this blog will be on a short pause.
In other words, lag. Till after finals.
Wish us luck, okay?
Oh, look at the time! Back to books, ciao.

sight-seeing-yummeh.

Last Sunday, we went to Hill's shopping mall.
Been a while since we last stepped into it.
Saw all the decorations for Raya celebration.
It's about time.
One of the decorations, front entrance.
Look!
It's so real. As though a real campfire.
A closer inspection to found out that it's human-engineered campfire.
With a little coloured light and some plastic frills.
Voila, you have your own real-life 99% alike fire, that burns! not.

Anyhow, continue on walking, we found some cold dessert.
Ice-cream!
I-scream-you-scream-everyone-scream for ice-cream!!
/cough/ anyway, who said only kids love ice-cream?
Saw this Korean Rice Cracker with Ice Cream.
And was tempted to give it a try, why not?
Just look at the paper menu itself, it's all stained meaning it's good.
So we paid, we waited.
Wanted a vanilla one at first, but the casher lady said vanilla habis!
Reluctantly, a chocolate one is selected.
Ta-daa!
The picture just don't do the korean cracker with ice-cream any justice at all.
It's huge, bigger than your palm, or any human palm at all.
And the ice-cream is heavenly nice!

And, just gonna love the symbol of Hill's shopping mall.
Clover-themed.
Meaning clovers everywhere!
A place full of good luck!
See?
Perfectly beautiful.
So many clovers! /hearts!/
Even the toilet signs are clover-themed.
Shall end the blogpost with her and his signs.
Ciao.

Hello 100yen.

Was walking in BDC's 100 yen when we laid our eyes on something.
Something cute, edible and fun.
See? Very cute, right?
Okay, both of us planned to take up Japanese in order to read the above instructions.
But, to make things fun, it's when you don't understand and guessing what's the ingredients needed.
That is fun.
Not really though, we do can understand what is drawn above.
Left corner.
Eggs, water, the packet of flour.

So we added everything and stirred hard too.
Then, we popped the bowl into the microwave oven.
Having no idea what will happen, we waited around one and a half minute.
When we open the oven, we saw...
It's a mess. But a pretty one.
A closer look.
It tasted like chocolate sponge cake.
And it's way easy to make it. Not to miss out, fun too!

That's a short one from us, go get your cute yummeh stuff from 100yen now.
Seriously, ciao.

A time for festival.

This is the 100th post. Yays!
And today is the auspicious 08-08-2010. Double yays!
In conjunction to that, we had decided to do a post on what is happening in Kuching a.k.a. CatCity.
But we bet most of y'all know what is going on for a month in CatCity, don't you?
Yes, surely you would know. Surely.
But before that, we headed down Crown Square for the Book Fair.
Book Fair 2010, 31 July 2010 - 15 August 2010.
Books are good. Good for the mind?
And not to mention, a lucky draw. Good for you, if you win an iPhone4. Good for the body?
Notice the huge amount of books, p/s - this is only part of the book fair.
It's actually a cheap warehouse book sale.
These all are hand-me-downs from US.
Price range? RM2.90 - RM6.90.
Super duper cheap.
All sorts of books.
Story books for kids, novels for teenages, love novels for the adults.
Cook book, story book, manual books, useless books, picture books.
Hard cover. Paper back.
Seriously the range covers from kids to adult.
Any book at all.
This is HEAVEN for book collectors, book worms, book addictors, book fanatics, book-whatever.
No offences. Even us are included in this book-chaos, digging for books!

After the crazily-sweaty-session-of-book-digging, it's time to head over to the famous Kuching Food Festival.
The annual event for every Kuching Cats! (referring to all of you who are living in CatCity).
Pity no picture of the banner, 'coz it's pouring cats & dogs.
Anyway, here are some of the interesting harvest from the festival.
New invention?
Twist Potato.
Yeah, real ones. 100% original, kay!
Screw that potato, it's twisted.
Deep-fried = crispy potato chips.
But, please consume while it's hot, if no, you will face the wrath of soggy chips!
Sweet-drawing.
Phoenix sweet.
This China man very professional in drawing sweets.
No words can describe how skillful he is.
... (don't know how to translate this).
Well, there is this another China man who molds cartoon characters out of play-doh.
And another China man who draws portraits.
No play-play.
See all these and tell us, how incredibly skillful their hands are?!

Okay, enough of all the stall-talking.
Time to uncover what we harvested from the food festivals.
We decided to try all the special foods we saw.
All the weirdest, too.
龙须甜. (Dragon Whisker's Sweet).
草袋饭. (Straw Basket Rice).
Assorted flavours.
Citrus Scallop, Emperous Ham, Mushroom Chicken, Pineapple Delight, Nyonya Sambal.
Glutinous rice!
In assorted flavours too, life is all about choices, kan?
There is salty, pandan, yam and red bean.
Last but not least, Japan Boat Takoyaki.
In other words, sotong balls.

We had an awesome time walking down the stalls set up specially for this Kuching Food Festival.
Fear not, it is ON everyday, every night specifically.
From the 31st July 2010 to the 22 August 2010.
Head down now, aight? Now.
Don't miss it, or you will have to wait another year!
Ciao.
