Another movie day after the exam marathon.. IRON MAN!!

Anyway, for those who did watch Iron man 1, it's about a man of steel, Tony Stark owning a Stark Industry which pass down from his father, Howard Stark. The Industry is producing fire power and imported to other countries. Tony Stark as the man of steel, IRONMAN come to save the world like any other superman plot.

Iron man 2, it's a lil different from ironman 1, which is that there's more talking then actions. There's some funny moment inside, bits and pieces of it. It's that small bits and pieces that makes the audience laugh (literally). Plus there's another secret society called. S.H.I.E.L.D, which only appears for a lil while then it's gone. Other than that, the movie is just a normal action movie where the heroes come to save the world or the country in the nick-of-time. All in all, i rated this movie 6/10 (that's just my point of view tho)

Tony stark (Robert Downey, Jr) use the image of the ironman to open the "Stark Expo" where it showcases all the latest inventions that benefits the world. Despite the popularity he gets, the United State government and Senator Stem (Gary Shandling) in particular, demands that he handed over his armor and his technology where they said it's a threat to the country and a weapon of destruction. During the court hearing, Stark's rival, Justin Hammer (Sam Rockwell) as the weapon expert justify that his weapon is dangerous. On the contrary, Stark publicly shaming him by showing the videos of Hammer's failed attempts at recreating the technology. Stark refuses to hand over his suit and the technology and left the court room in style. Stark discovered that the palladium in the arch reactor is poisoning him. The thing that is keeping him alive is killing him. Due to this he elected his personal assistant Pepper Potts ( Gwyneth Paltrow) an the CEO of Stark Industries and replacing her with Natalie Rushman (Scarlett Johansson).

Stark is attacked by Ivan Vanko (Mickey Rourke), son of the former Russian physicist, Anton Vanko. The 1st attempt of killing Stark fails. Vanko makes the second attempt at the end of the movie, which is the movie's climax. He upgraded his armor and the technology by indirectly using Hammer. Stark fights Vanko with the help of his military friend Lt. Colonel James Rhodes (Don Cheadle). As predictable as it is, the villain died and they save the country. The movie ended with Nick Fury of SHIELD (Samuel L.Jackson) reviewing the reports to him and rejected him in joining the SHIELD.

After the movie, another trip to McD. hahah. We ate more or less the same thing everything we went to McD. It's Chicken Nugget set, Porridge and....MEGA MAC!!! The burger is really a mega. 4 pieces of beef. Whow...It's nice tho, real nice.

After McD heading back and chill...hhmmmmm...chilll....i like chilling...and watching Full Metal Alchemist until pass mid night. This is what i call a relaxing night.

Yeaps, time flies. This week is officially study week.
Like it or not, finals are in one weeks' time. Not more not less.
Sorry, can't help but /being emo/.
Anyway, we are always getting our head out the atmosphere of stress and tense here.
Headed down The Spring for some fun. MBO, to be exact.
Amongst all the fun, exciting, interesting movie titles there, we chose this.
Cause it is best to be squeezed into our tight timetable of being out. Kay? /le sigh/
So, here it is.
It's complicated.

It's an 2009 American romantic comedy film written and directed by Nancy Meyers, starring Meryl Streep, Steve Martin and Alec Baldwin.

Let's peek into the storyline, shall we?
Jane (Meryl Streep) is the mother of three grown kids, owns a thriving Santa Barbara bakery/restaurant and has—after a decade of divorce—an amicable relationship with her ex-husband, attorney Jake (Alec Baldwin). But when Jane and Jake find themselves out of town for their son's college graduation, things start to get complicated. An innocent meal together turns into the unimaginable—an affair. With Jake remarried to the much younger Agness (Lake Bell), Jane is now, of all things, the other woman.
Caught in the middle of their renewed romance is Adam (Steve Martin), an architect hired to remodel Jane's kitchen. Healing from a divorce of his own, Adam starts to fall for Jane, but soon realizes he's become part of a love triangle.
Should Jane and Jake move on with their lives, or is love truly lovelier the second time around? It's... complicated.

UNIMAS is joining the EHM this year too. In shutting off the lights from 8.30pm to 9.30pm. We all are joining in the fun @ Dataran Universiti. No dress codes. No fees or whatsoever. And participant gets chops. /laughs/ More to the event, lantern show, karaoke session. Not to forget BRC's open day.

How did we both spend our Saturday? Stuck at campus, like usual. But, Mr Steak decided to donate blood this morning, wth! Ms Pasta kamchiong like what. T___T Oh well, since he wanna do something charitable, so why not tag along with him lor, pei him. Pictures? Update next time, can?

Back to topic, staying in campus. We went to CAIS, our usual lepak place. With air-cond, fast cable line, good facilities, why not? So, we set up everything and relax. Watched a movie.

What movie? Related to Gods. Hades, Zeus. Guessing, anyone?

The Lightning Thief. /tee-hee!/

We missed it during premiere so opted to watch it now.

Trailer time first today.

The Lightning Thief is based on a 2005 fantasy/adventure novel based on Greek mythology written by Rick Riordan. It is the first book in the Percy Jackson & the Olympians series.

This time, it's the 21st century, but the gods of Mount Olympus and assorted monsters have walked out of the pages of high school student Percy Jackson's Greek Mythology texts and into his life. And they are not happy: Zeus' lightning bolt has been stolen and Percy is the prime suspect. Even more troubling is the sudden disappearance of Percy's mother. As Percy adapts to his newly discovered status as a demi-god (his father is Poseidon), he finds himself caught berween the battling titans of Mount Olympus. He and his friends embark on a cross-country adventure to catch the true lightning thief, save Percy's mother and unravel a mystery more powerful than the gods themselves.

Countdown for Earth Hour. Ciao.

The...what?

Just yesterday, out of the blank, Steak suggested we go out chill and have fun. Maybe catch a movie or so(?). So off we went. /laughs/ Just yesterday.

And so, we went around running errands and window shopped, stopping to find ourselves in front of MBO. Why not? A movie won't hurt. We browse through and picked this.

The Lovely Bones.

This time, Steak did the choosing-a-movie part. At first, Pasta wasn't sure to tag along or not, since the title does not appear to be attractive enough. Needless-to-say, Pasta trusted Steak and tagged along. Later to find out that this movie is based on the novel.

Ta-daa! The Lovely Bones by Alice Sebold. [we salute her bravery!] In fact, her first novel, Lucky is a memoir on her real life experience of being raped during her freshman year, while walking home through a park off campus and how that particular experience shaped the rest of her life. The title Lucky came by when police remarked that a young woman had once been murdered in the same location and stating that she is lucky. Anyway, back to her second novel, The Lovely Bones before Pasta got carried away. /laughs/

The Lovely Bones is a drama film by Peter Jackson. Starring Saoirse Ronan(Susie Salmon), Mark Wahlberg(Jack Salmon), Rachel Weisz, Reece Ritchie, Carolyn Dando. The film garnered various nominations, including from the 2009 Broadcast Film Critics Association Awards, from the 2009 Washington DC Area Film Critics Association Awards, from the 7th Irish Film and Television Awards, from the 82nd Academy Awards, 67th Golden Globe Awards and from the 16th Screen Actors Guild Award. [Ratings for the overall movie is good, trust us.]

Why the title The Lovely Bones? It stems from a line towards the end of the movie, in which Susie ponders her friends' and family's newfound strength after her death:

" These were the lovely bones that had grown around my absence: the connections - sometimes tenuous, sometimes made at great cost, but often magnificient - that happened after I was gone. And i began to see things in a way that let me hold the world within me in it. The events my death brought were merely the bones of a body that would become whole at some unpredictable time in the future. The price of what I came to see as this miraculous lifeless body had been my life. "

My name was Salmon, like the fish; first name, Susie. I was fourteen when I was murdered on December 6, 1973. [Pasta is indeed amazed that this particular sentence repeated at the beginning of the movie, in between the movie and the end of the movie] Susie Salmon, a fourteen-yo-girl, is murdered by her next-door neighbor in suburban Pennsylvania. Throughout this movie, she tells the story of her family's reaction and subsequent disintegration after her own murder.

Susie's father Jack suspects the neighbor, Mr. Harvey, but the police do not have any evidence to hold him as a suspect. In the heaven, Susie does not let her family and friends go. She follows them throughout the years, watching Lindsey doing everything that she would have done if she is alive. Susie's sister Lindsey, who also suspected Mr. Harvey, took the chance in breaking into his house while he is away for errands in search for evidence. What evidences could she find? Will she be discovered by Mr. Harvey? This, you have to watch the movie yourself. We won't be spoiling the fun.

What we have to say about The Lovely Bones?

Pasta: There are still some footage in the movie that got stuck in meh brain lah(!). Especially the part where Mr. Harvey is tracking down Lindsey. /shrieks/

Steak: It's a lovely story with a mix of serenity and violence which seems like a form of art in the movie. This movie is not suitable for all age, mark that.

Overall, it's a /thumbs up/ movie.

Not to forget, cabinets of wines to be purchased off. Prices, of course, ranges for each fine bottle.

Managed to snap other funny shaped furniture that looked great for 2. Pity we are there for dinner, not to chill and drink. It really seems so comfy-shaped.

Anyway, as Pasta said, we are there for dinner. /tee-hee/

Our drinks. The Guinness was a complimentary pint. We both had funny mix blended fruit shake. Funny names. Funny taste.

But, we tried out chef's special.

Steak's Red Wine Lamb Chop. He commented that this plate is good. He likes it. /tee-hee/Pasta's Mushroom-sauced Chicken Chop with Marsh Potato.

Hearts the marsh potato. It's a healthy dish with the balance of salad, marsh potato and chicken.

French Fries, Calamari Rings, Terriyaki Chicken.

Ended our dinner with a cup of tissues. Good? We like it when they offer tissues after meal. This is kinda like a symbolic sign that cleanliness is of importance to them as well as to us.

Silhouette is a great place to dine and partayyy(!). Definitely a next time again, Steak promises. /yays!/

Anyway, [wah! a lot of anyways, hoh?] Pasta is going to hit the sacks now.

Before that, this is a treat from us. A song that is currently stuck in our head.

Okay, we are kidding. It's just that we went to different places lah. Good, Mr Steak?

Time for homework on movies. (:

What movie, you may ask?

You see it. From Paris With Love. An action movie starring John Travolta and Jonathan Rhys Meyers, directed by Pierre Morel. The screenplay was co-written by Luc Besson.

The movie is about the personal assistant of the U.S. Ambassador, James Reese (Jonathan Rys Meyer) having a second job as a secret agent for some anonymous, who he never seen before but only gets his task through the phone calls. He has a lovely French girlfriend.

All the action starts when he received a phone call to be the driver of a guy name Wax (John Travolta). Wax was held at the custom due to the coffee cans where he brought it from the US. What is interesting here, is when they are in the car, Wax opened the cans and took out pieces of the hand gun and assemble it. James follows Wax in crime busting. He cuddled at a corner when Wax starting to fire his rounds. When he finished he told the Chinese guy," Wax on, Wax out".

On the other hand, there's a twist involve in this funny and action pack story. When Wax was invited to James's house for dinner, a phone call to his girlfriend reviewed that she was a Pakistani terrorist, and was head-shot at the dinner table. The twist is, James's French girlfriend is also one of the Pakistani terrorists where she took the picture of him and bugged the house to monitor him.

At the end of the story, the French girl was killed by James himself at the Summit where she attempts to blow up herself and with everyone that were in the building.

It's a nice movie with action-pack, funny, a lil twist but one downside, the movie is too too short and the ending of the story is too fast and lame. When the movie finished, what my brother said to me was that the movie was "just okay", which by definition it means just a lil above average. John Travolta play a very different role in this movie. He was funny, not like any other movies where he was serious and playing the good man part.

That's all i can say about the movie. Personally, i will give it 4/10. [Steak]

A long ago due-d post. What to do? All the nice pictures are at Steak's laptop and am using Pasta's laptop tonight. Think we need to go get an external to put all our pictures in it. Any suggestions?

This was a brief trip to Secret Recipe @ The Spring some time ago.

[apologies for forgetting the names of the cakes as it was some time ago, no next time /laughs/]

Seeeeeecret Recipe. Sounds yummeh!

Our drinks + cakes as starters.

Both of us really have to agree that the cakes @ Secret Recipe are great, the texture of the cake is soft and delicate enough for your taste bud, it felt like heaven, nope, you're still on ground. At least, you will really love that rich aroma taste and that thick thick "no chiplak" taste. Really!

Steak's Fish and Chips. He commented that this plater is too oily. It sickens the tummy. Poor him. Did not finish the whole plate, no worries for upset tummy. /tee-hee/

Pasta's Lasagna. /yums!/ It's worth trying, y'know? 'coz it's rich in cheese and tomato. For a cheeseholic, at least. [not for the weak tummy] This plater is also slightly over oiled. Can be uber fattening. Not something a girl wants. That's why Pasta only finished less than half and give up.

Conclusion? Secret Recipe is a better place to chill & drink rather than to have your meal there. No doubt that the cakes there are good, in fact, great(!).

Go try the cakes there and chill. (: the environment they offer is superb.

Movie @ campus yo!

RM 3 for a movie sounded like a great bargain, right?

And, indeed, it is. (:

Pasta&Steak bought 2 tickets(!), that made tonight another movie night.

We might be considering a movie a week or two. We shall wait and see?
2 tickets to the movie! [it's another EBX group's way to gain profit, it's our project]

The central teaching facility (CTF) being turned into a home theater, dark+cold+good sound system=perfect! Unfortunately, there was some technical problem in between that made us move from room 4 to room 5. But still, it's good. /claps/

Oh, and about the movie we watched.

It's a Taiwan movie. [Pasta thought they would choose an English one, surprisingly they did not!]

Monga (艋舺) is the movie's title. /thumbs up/

Homework time for Pasta. (:

Monga, directed by Niu Chen-zer, is a classic gangster tale. The scene is set when Mosquito, played by Mark Chao, a new boy in the high school finds himself being picked on. His brave response catches the attention of Dragon, played by Rhydian Vaughan, who is the son of Geta, the boss of the Temple Front. He is inducted into the gang and forms part of the group of five that also includes Monk, played by Ethan Ruan, Monkey and DogBoy.

The film, set in Taipei's Wanhua districts in the 1980s, evokes a nostalgia for a not so distant past. It perhaps represents a time of innocence, a world on the cusp of old and new. This sets up the plot with outside gangs seeking to move in and change things, while the Temple Front resists change.

Mosquito has grown up without a father and looks up to Geta, played by Ma Ru-long, as a father figure, Xiaoning, played by Ke Jia-yan, is Mosquito's love interest. However, she plays a fairly peripheral role. This is essentially a film about a male world of brotherhood and betrayal. There are quite a few fight scenes, some of which are quite violent. [not for the weak tummy] However, the real focus is on the relationships between the gang members.

We went for a movie @ MBO again. 2 in a week after absent from movie for nearly 3 months!

We opted to watch Solomon Kane, there isn't any better choice atm.
Okay, okay, time for Pasta to do some homework on it.
Googled and found this interesting site on Solomon Kane.
Solomon Kane is a film directed by Michael J. Bassett based on the pulp magazine character Solomon Kane created in 1928 by Robert E. Howard (creator of Conan the Barbarian) and stars James Purefoy, Max von Sydow, Rachel Hurd-Wood, Mackenzie Crook, Pete Postlethwaite, Ian Whyte, Alice Krige, Ben Steel, Anthony Wilks, Jason Flemyng and Samuel Roukin. The movie tells the origins of Solomon Kane and is hoped to be the first of a trilogy of movies. When the story opens, Kane is a mercenary of Queen Elizabeth I fighting in Africa, but after an encounter with a demon, The Devil's Reaper, he realizes he must seek redemption or have his soul damned to Hell. He then returns to England and lives a life of peace, converting to puritanism, but soon the doings of an evil sorcerer, Malachi, upsets his plans and he must take up arms again.

After movie, we went for loooooooong shopping @ The Spring/Boulevard/Hills.
We saw this interesting audition @ The Spring. Kesi lah. It's only open to those 21 and above with a passport. If no, Pasta sure tarik-tarik Steak go join. [nan de bah!]
It's rare! That they would take the initiative to actually audition here, in Kuching. Ohhh, and the host for Amazing Race Asia is there on-the-spot too! Woots! Took his picture, from afar lah.
And, Steak bought Pasta a pilot pen @ Popular, Boulevard! Dr Grip 4+1.

So, Pasta exchanged the Pilot feed 2+1 with Steak. Now, both of us has a +1 pen each.
/yays!/
